Course content

Requirements

  • Access to Workday at your company as an employee or a manager is helpful but not required: every task is shown on demo screens
  • No Workday administration, configuration or HR background needed: the course starts from the Home page
  • A computer with a modern browser to open the 10 HTML tools; they work offline and need no installation or sign-up
  • Screens in the course are mockups rebuilt from public Workday job aids: button names and steps in your company’s tenant may differ
  • The course is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Workday, Inc.

Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence

Half of all Workday helpdesk tickets in the first months are not bugs. They are “how do I” questions.

One college counted 109 of 217 tickets like that after go-live. This course answers those questions for employees and managers, task by task, in minutes.

Your company moved to Workday. Nobody showed you how to live in it.

You got a login and maybe one training session. Since then every small task turns into a search for the right button: a time off request comes back, a timesheet is sent back on Friday evening, an expense report waits for a missing receipt, a performance review is written the night before the deadline. Managers approve requests they did not really read, because the inbox never ends. Each of these costs a day of back-and-forth with HR.

After this course Workday becomes a routine, not a puzzle.

  • Your first week is closed: four pinned items, one saved search, My Tasks sorted by due date and nothing overdue.
  • Requests go through the first time: time off with the right balance, a week of time without flags, an expense report with every receipt.
  • Goals and reviews are written from evidence, not from memory, with goals your manager can approve.
  • As a manager, you decide in minutes: approve, send back with one clear reason, or deny, and your vacation is covered by delegation.
  • Manager requests are prepared before the first click: job change, promotion, pay change, one-time payment, requisition and termination.

Every lesson shows the real route on the screen.

Each lesson has step-by-step demos of Workday screens rebuilt from public user guides of organizations that use Workday: Home, My Tasks, Request Absence, Enter Time, Expenses, Goals, Self Evaluation, Learning, Manage Delegations, Start Job Change and more. Your tenant may look a little different, and the lessons show what to check when it does.

70+ ready tools, one working file per lesson.

  • 10 interactive HTML tools with 39 working parts: First-Week Workday Checklist, Profile and Payslip Check-Up, Team Time-Off Planner, Timesheet Pre-Submit Checker, Expense Report Pre-Flight, Goal Writer, Review Evidence Log, Team Learning Plan, Approval Decision Guide, Manager Request Prep Sheet.
  • 16 checklists on the slides: before you submit time off, before you submit a timesheet, before you approve, before you leave on vacation.
  • 6 templates and reference tables: ready comments for approve, send back and deny, a “what changes” to Workday task table, goal parts.
  • 10 click paths and routines: the first-morning route, the 10-minute inbox pass, the comment formula.

Who is teaching.

Mike has 20 years in HR as an HR director and HR business partner in media, gaming and tech companies, including Wargaming and the unicorn Preply, where he built the HR system. He is PHRi, SHRM-CP and HCI sHRBP certified and the HRCI representative in Eastern Europe. His courses have 1,800,000+ enrollments and 170,000 students, and he is the author of about 200 books on Amazon. In every company he rolled out HR systems for people, and he checked one thing first: do people want to open the system every day.

How the course is built.

It is a ladder. First you set up your Workday in the first week: Home, Search and My Tasks. Then you handle your own tasks: profile and pay, time off, time tracking and expenses. Next you move to goals, feedback, performance reviews and learning. Finally, the manager lessons: the approvals inbox and the requests only a manager can start. One learning company, Brightwater Logistics, runs through all ten lessons, so every example connects to the next one.
