A full hotel can still have an unfinished guest room, a weak operating result and an unanswered complaint.
52 practical tools connect those signals to a proposed 90-day improvement plan for RevPAR and guest reviews.
The desk has one version of the day, housekeeping has another, and the monthly report arrives after the decisions have already been made. A higher average rate can hide weaker demand. A public apology can leave the guest’s original problem unresolved. When demand moves, repeating last week’s prices and shifts makes those gaps harder to see.
The working format brings the observation, calculation, missing information and next check into the same record. Eight interactive HTML files contain 52 distinct working parts, presented as 50+ tools. Each lesson replaces a weak document with a stronger version on the same example data. The 90-day horizon is a planning and review period; improvements in RevPAR or guest ratings depend on the hotel’s situation and execution.
Mike is the academy’s founder and strategy lead, with 20 years in HR. His experience informs the people side of hotel leadership: department heads, shifts, line-level hiring, training, service culture, management rhythm and budgets. Hotel metrics, the descriptive USALI structure and standards are grounded in documented sources and the teaching scenario.
52 tools, counted without duplicates
- 20 templates and working records: department walk, three-party mandate, eight-week pricing calendar, weekly rota, monthly owner page.
- 18 calculators and comparison sheets: hotel KPI calculator, comp set comparison, net ADR ledger, Rooms labor cost, reserve movement.
- 8 checklists and inspection checks: definition reconciliation, GM sentence check, included-cost register, room inspection, proposed recheck.
- 6 question banks, scripts and rehearsals: department question bank, public review reply, recovery conversation, daily operations briefing, owner conversation.
These parts are ready to fill or inspect inside the HTML files. Named models and methods are explained in context and add zero to the count. The HTML containers, repeated slide examples, individual metrics, AI prompts and export buttons also add zero.
One hotel, eight complete tasks
Alderquay House Hotel is a fictional 240-room full-service hotel with a restaurant, bar, event spaces and 300 employees including part-time and seasonal staff. Colton Family Holdings owns it, Fallowmere Hospitality Partners operates it, and Merrivale Lantern Collection is its fictional franchise brand. All example numbers are illustrative, not market benchmarks.
- Takeover and daily visibility: 14 tools for department walks, a baseline, the three-party mandate, a 90-day track and the flash report.
- Prices, channels and departmental results: 12 tools for BAR and stay restrictions, OTA and direct bookings, channel costs, departmental P&L and flow-through.
- Guests and people: 10 tools for review replies, private recovery, compensation checks, labor hours and a qualified weekly rota.
- Standards and owner decisions: 16 tools for the audit route, room inspection, critical findings, FF&E and capex records, and the annual quarterly plan.
The changing-demand thread runs through booking pace and occupancy forecasts, proposed prices and channels, flexible departmental costs, labor standards under load, and quarterly actions in the annual plan. Each lesson includes its own hotel context and necessary inputs, so it can stand alone.
PMS references include Oracle OPERA Cloud, Mews and Cloudbeds; channel references include SiteMinder; pricing-system references include IDeaS and Duetto; guest-feedback references include TrustYou and ReviewPro. Documented demonstrations use reconstructed mockups; the real interface and workflow may differ. Vendor names identify sources and systems, with no affiliation or endorsement.
AI prepares drafts of occupancy forecasts, price recommendations, review summaries and shift briefings. The GM checks source data, periods, assumptions, privacy and delegated authority before any decision. Prices, staffing, guest remedies, safety and spending remain human decisions. The operating summary uses declared definitions; it is not a complete USALI chart of accounts. Local safety and employment requirements need competent local review.
