Do you manage Windows computers with Group Policy? These practice tests check the knowledge an Active Directory administrator uses every day: creating, linking, delegating and backing up GPOs, working out which settings win and why, troubleshooting policy that does not apply, and configuring security settings, Folder Redirection, software installation and Group Policy Preferences.
You get 4 practice tests with 160 questions in total (40, 40, 40, 40). Every question was checked twice before release: once by the author against the official documentation, and once by an independent reviewer who answered it blind – any disagreement was settled with a source.
What makes the explanations useful
Each answer tells you why the right option is right and why each wrong option is wrong. The wrong options are real features, commands and settings that are easy to pick by mistake – that is where most of the learning is.
How the tests are built
- Practice Test 1: GPO Fundamentals and Management: GPC and GPT, SYSVOL replication, GPMC, default and starter GPOs, linking, delegation, backup and restore, migration tables and the GroupPolicy PowerShell module.
- Practice Test 2: Processing, Scoping and Troubleshooting: LSDOU order, link order, Block Inheritance and Enforced, security and WMI filtering, loopback, refresh and slow links, gpupdate, Group Policy Results and Modeling, logs.
- Practice Test 3: Policy Settings and Group Policy Preferences: Administrative Templates and the ADMX central store, security templates, Restricted Groups, firewall, AppLocker, scripts, software installation, Folder Redirection and preferences.
- Practice Test 4: Full Mock Exam: a mixed exam across all three areas – take it last, in one sitting.
Questions use single-answer and multiple-answer formats; the number of answers to pick is always stated. Suggested time: 60 minutes per test.
Versions: Group Policy on Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025 domains with Windows 11 clients (GPMC, Group Policy Management Editor, Group Policy Preferences, ADMX central store, AppLocker, Windows Defender Firewall, GroupPolicy PowerShell module, SYSVOL replication with DFSR), as of October 2026.
