Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence

A payroll run is not finished when the calculation stops.

Close the payroll cycle with checked inputs, reviewed figures, payment evidence and an answer the employee can trust.

Late HR changes, unexplained net pay and a rejected transfer can all land on the same desk. A correct total does not explain which version was checked or whether the money settled. Repeating the calculation leaves those questions open.

The practical result is a payroll record that can be reviewed: a calendar, an input contract, a calculation trace, a correction record and links to the journal and payment. Unconfirmed rules and missing approvals remain visible. This is the operational work behind a clean monthly payroll cycle.

Mike brings more than 20 years in HR and C&B, including management of payroll and payroll budgets, and is the author of courses on C&B, Total Rewards and Reward Strategy. His academy has operated since 2011, serving 170,000+ students across 185 countries, with 180+ courses.

Eight self-contained lessons follow one fictional retail network, Briarfen Home Stores. Each lesson opens with a payroll myth or mistake, examines its cost and works through a correction. The company and its people are fictional; all scenario figures are example numbers.

59 tools, counted transparently

  • 8 downloadable HTML working files, each counted as a container: Payroll Calendar Builder, Payroll Input Desk, Gross-to-Net Calculator, Payslip Conversation Builder.
  • 37 editable working parts inside those files: Input handoffs, Gross Bridge, Journal Map, Weighted scorecard.
  • 14 copyable slide templates, procedures, prompts and scripts: Local calendar verification template, Time-correction record template, Remedy agreement procedure, Secure payslip opening script.

The 59-item total includes containers and their parts; it does not mean 59 separate files. No extra models are added to the count. Models discussed in the lessons explain decisions; the working files and copyable slide tools provide the records to adapt.

The route starts with 14 tools in Payroll Calendar Builder and Payroll Input Desk. Next come 12 tools in Gross-to-Net Calculator and Variable and Final Pay Calculator. The review stage contains 17 tools in Payroll Variance and Error Log and Payroll Control Matrix and Journal Map. The final stage provides 16 tools in Provider and Transition Planner and Payslip Conversation Builder. Every HTML file has a filled example, browser saving, text copying and print-to-PDF.

Payroll technology is made concrete through selected Deel and Remote documentation-based mockups. These are rebuilt demonstrations, not live product access; real interfaces and workflows may differ. The course is independent of the vendors. AI prepares draft observations, anomaly lists, explanations and replies; a human checks the source records and makes the decision. Personal payroll data must not be sent to public AI services without a contract and company policy.

US, UK and Ireland rules appear only as examples based on official sources. Rates and rules change every year and differ by country and state or region; check the official source for your jurisdiction. Calculators use illustrative rates, not real tax rates. This course provides no tax or legal advice: check with payroll tax and employment counsel in your jurisdiction.

The scope is payroll processing and control. Pay structures, grades, reward-plan design, benefits design, payroll budgeting and a complete accounting close require separate work.
