Check the version first, because it matters. The current exam code is the 2026 release, and it replaced the previous version, which has been retired. Much of the free material circulating still targets the retired code. The domain names look similar, but the service coverage underneath has moved, particularly around the distributed cloud offerings and the security services.
This is a conceptual entry-level certification with no prerequisites and no hands-on requirement, which makes it one of the most accessible cloud credentials available. Expect networking to be your weakest area — virtual cloud networks, subnets, gateways and security rules are where almost every beginner loses ground, and they are unavoidable on this exam. Worth knowing: there are no prerequisites, and this certification is the standard starting point before the Architect Associate and the other OCI tracks. Confirm the current exam format at registration, since Oracle adjusts question count and duration between versions.
