What you'll learn

  • Check your Hyper-V and server virtualization knowledge across four tests
  • Find your weak areas: hosts and VMs, migration and VMM, or failover clustering
  • Learn why each wrong option is wrong, not just which option is right
  • Revise the Hyper-V PowerShell commands you use to build, move and protect VMs
  • Practise under time pressure with a full mixed mock exam
This course includes:
160 questions on-demand video

Requirements

  • Basic Windows Server experience (or a Hyper-V lab you are building)
  • No lab is needed to take the tests

Description

Do you run virtual machines on Hyper-V – or are you about to build your first host? These practice tests check the knowledge a virtualization administrator uses every day: installing Hyper-V, creating VMs, virtual disks and virtual switches, checkpoints and live migration, managing hosts with Virtual Machine Manager, and keeping VMs running with failover clustering and Storage Replica.

You get 4 practice tests with 160 questions in total (40, 40, 40, 40). Every question was checked twice before release: once by the author against the official documentation, and once by an independent reviewer who answered it blind – any disagreement was settled with a source.

What makes the explanations useful

Each answer tells you why the right option is right and why each wrong option is wrong. The wrong options are real features, commands and settings that are easy to pick by mistake – that is where most of the learning is.

How the tests are built

  • Practice Test 1: Hyper-V Hosts, VMs, Virtual Disks and Networking: host requirements and installing Hyper-V, nested virtualization, VM generations and versions, VHDX and differencing disks, virtual switches, NAT, SET, VLANs, GPU partitioning and PowerShell Direct.
  • Practice Test 2: Checkpoints, Live Migration and System Center VMM: VM states, standard and production checkpoints, export and import, live and storage migration, Kerberos and CredSSP, SMB storage, and Virtual Machine Manager setup, fabric and bare-metal deployment.
  • Practice Test 3: Failover Clustering and High Availability: cluster validation, quorum and witnesses, cluster networks and heartbeats, CNO and VCO, clustered roles, failback, draining nodes, Cluster-Aware Updating, Storage Spaces, Storage Replica and stretch clusters.
  • Practice Test 4: Full Mock Exam: a mixed exam across all three areas – take it last, in one sitting.

Questions use single-answer and multiple-answer formats; the number of answers to pick is always stated. Suggested time: 60 minutes per test.

Versions: Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V (and client Hyper-V on Windows 11 Pro), System Center 2025 Virtual Machine Manager, Failover Clustering, Storage Spaces and Storage Replica, PowerShell Hyper-V and FailoverClusters modules, as of October 2026.

Please note: these are original practice questions written by an instructor. This course is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft; Hyper-V, Windows Server and System Center are Microsoft trademarks.

Who this course is for:

  • Windows Server administrators who run or plan Hyper-V hosts and clusters
  • IT support engineers moving up to server virtualization
  • Students of Hyper-V and server virtualization courses who want to test what they learned
