Most Power Platform courses teach you the tools in isolation. This course teaches you how to use them together — connected to a real ERP.
Business Central manages your finance, inventory, purchasing, and sales. Power Platform is what turns that data into mobile apps, automated workflows, and live executive dashboards. This course shows you exactly how to connect them, build on them, and ship something your organisation can use.
In 4 focused hours across 4 modules, you will build:
-
A mobile canvas app for managing Purchase Orders — connected live to Business Central, running on any phone
-
An end-to-end approval flow that triggers automatically when a high-value PO is created in BC, routes it to a manager, and writes the decision back to BC
-
A two-page Power BI dashboard showing real-time sales and finance KPIs, embedded directly inside the Business Central interface
Everything is built on a real Business Central trial environment using real data. By the end of the last lecture, you have four working, deployable solutions — not toy examples.
What makes this course different
Most courses stop at “here’s the connector.” This course goes further: you’ll understand the OData API that powers every BC connection, know when to use OAuth vs a service account, understand delegation limits before they cause data loss in production, and know how to handle errors in Power Automate flows so they fail loudly instead of silently.
The four patterns you build in this course — BC-connected app, approval flow, Power BI dashboard, embedded report — cover 90% of what real organisations deploy with Power Platform and Business Central.
This course is for you if:
-
You work with Business Central and want to extend it with custom apps, automation, or dashboards — without writing AL code
-
You’re a Power Platform developer who’s been asked to integrate with Business Central and don’t know where to start
-
You’re a consultant or solution architect who needs to demo and deliver BC + Power Platform integrations
-
You’ve done the Microsoft Learn modules but want a practical, build-it-yourself course
What you’ll build, lecture by lecture:
Module 1 — Foundations & Connecting to BC (55 min) Set up a Business Central trial, create a Power Platform environment, register an Azure AD app, and make your first live connection. Learn how BC’s OData API works and when to use OAuth vs service accounts.
Module 2 — Power Apps for BC Data (60 min) Build a three-screen canvas app: a Purchase Order list, a detail view with line items, and a new order creation screen — all reading from and writing to Business Central in real time. Learn delegation, SubmitForm, and how to publish and share.
Module 3 — Power Automate Workflows (55 min) Build a complete purchase order approval flow: triggered by a BC event, condition-checked by amount, routed to a manager via the Approvals connector, and written back to BC when approved. Includes error handling, retry policies, and run history debugging.
Module 4 — Power BI Dashboards & Next Steps (70 min) Connect Power BI to Business Central via OData, build a two-page sales and finance dashboard, configure row-level security, set up scheduled refresh, and embed the report directly inside BC pages. Finish with a clear roadmap for AI, governance, and deeper BC integration.
