What you'll learn

  • Take a vague complaint from a client and turn it into a defined problem using 5W1H, SCQA and a MECE logic tree
  • Find the root cause with 5 Whys and Ishikawa, then prove it with data instead of presenting a plausible theory
  • Use Pareto and the Theory of Constraints to show where 80% of the damage actually sits
  • Generate options beyond the obvious with SCAMPER, Six Thinking Hats and TRIZ when the easy answers are exhausted
  • Pick the right framework fast: SWOT, McKinsey 7S, 5P, Lean Six Sigma or ADKAR, depending on what you are diagnosing
  • Build the financial case — unit economics, budget impact, what the recommendation is actually worth
  • Map processes, find the waste, design the improved version and calculate the gain before anyone commits
  • Run the client workshop so the decision is made in the room and owned by someone with a name
  • Learn alongside Mike’s 1.6 million students from 185 countries
  • Get the author’s experience from Preply, Wargaming, iDeals and Alfa-Bank

Course content

Requirements

  • No consulting background needed. I introduce every framework at the point where it becomes useful
  • Bring one real problem — a client’s or your own company’s. This course is worked, not watched
  • Basic comfort with numbers, since the financial section runs through the whole method
  • English at intermediate level or above, since all lessons and materials are in English
  • A whiteboard tool or paper for logic trees, Ishikawa diagrams and process maps

Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Clients rarely tell you their real problem. They tell you the symptom that finally annoyed someone senior enough to pay for help.

Where consulting engagements go wrong

Usually in the first week. Somebody accepts the client’s framing at face value, builds a beautiful analysis on top of it, and delivers a recommendation that solves a problem the business does not have. Or the diagnosis is right, the deck is excellent, and nothing happens afterwards — because the decision was never made in the room, and nobody’s name was written next to any action.

I have been on both sides of this. I have hired consultants and received the slide pack that changed nothing, and I have gone into organisations to fix things that had already been diagnosed twice.

The method this course teaches

Frame the problem before touching it: 5W1H, SCQA, a MECE logic tree, and an explicit line around what is out of scope. Find the cause and prove it, rather than proposing the first plausible story. Use Pareto and the Theory of Constraints to show where the damage actually concentrates, because effort spread evenly is effort wasted.

Then options — including SCAMPER, Six Thinking Hats and TRIZ for the cases where the obvious answers have run out. Then the financial case, because a recommendation without numbers is an opinion. Then process work: mapping, waste, the improved design and the calculated gain. And finally delivery, because the part most consultants skip is turning the recommendation into a project with a scope, a budget, a risk register and somebody accountable.

Who is teaching this

Mike, the number one HR instructor on Udemy. More than 1.6 million course enrolments, over 150,000 professionals trained, PHRi and SHRM-CP certified, HRCI representative in more than 10 countries. I built the people function of the unicorn Preply and worked at Wargaming, Alfa-Bank and iDeals.

Why the course ends with facilitation

Because the last mile is where value is created or lost. You can be entirely right and still leave a room where everyone nodded and nothing was decided. The final section is how to run the session that ends with a decision, an owner and a date — which is, in the end, what the client is paying for.

What is included

– Lifetime access to all course materials

– Active instructor support in the Q&A section

– Udemy Certificate of Completion

– Practical assignments and real business cases

– A section with additional courses, tools and resources

A note on the length

52 lessons is a lot. That is deliberate — consulting is not one framework, it is a sequence, and the sequence is what makes it reliable. Work through it in order and you will have a method you can apply to any problem a client brings. Enrol now and start the first lesson today.

Who this course is for:

  • Analysts and specialists moving into consulting who need the whole method, not one framework
  • Internal consultants and business partners advising leaders who did not ask for advice
  • Independent consultants who need to diagnose a client fast and be right
  • Managers regularly handed problems nobody else could solve
  • Project managers whose work keeps turning into diagnosis before delivery
  • Anyone preparing for consulting case interviews
  • People who present good analysis and watch nothing happen afterwards
