This Fire Warden Training in Healthcare course provides practical knowledge to help Fire Wardens, staff, supervisors, and safety personnel understand their responsibilities and respond appropriately to fire-related hazards.
You will learn how fires start and spread, how to identify common ignition sources and combustible materials, and how oxygen-enriched environments and medical gases can increase fire risk. The course also covers fire prevention, fire risk assessment, fire doors, compartmentation, escape routes, emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm systems, housekeeping, hot work, contractors, and routine fire safety inspections.
You will also learn what to do when an alarm is raised, how to communicate during an emergency, and why healthcare evacuation requires careful planning. Topics include progressive horizontal evacuation, vertical evacuation, vulnerable and bed-bound patients, Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), assembly and accountability, area checks, visitors and contractors, and coordination with emergency services.
The course also introduces common fire extinguisher types, fire classes, extinguisher selection, the PASS technique, electrical fire considerations, oxygen and medical gas risks, re-ignition hazards, and the situations where attempting to fight a fire is unsafe.
