What you'll learn

  • Check your Windows Server failover clustering knowledge across three tests
  • Find your weak areas – building a cluster versus running and troubleshooting it
  • Learn why each wrong option is wrong, not just which option is right
  • Revise the PowerShell cmdlets for clusters, quorum, CAU and Storage Replica
  • Practise under time pressure with a full mixed mock exam

Requirements

  • Basic Windows Server administration experience (storage and networking basics help)
  • No lab is needed to take the tests

Description

Do you build or run Windows Server failover clusters – or are you about to? These practice tests check the knowledge a cluster administrator needs: planning storage and networks, validating and creating a cluster, quorum and witnesses, clustered file servers and Cluster Shared Volumes, keeping nodes updated with Cluster-Aware Updating, troubleshooting a cluster that has lost quorum, and stretching a cluster across two sites with Storage Replica.

You get 3 practice tests with 120 questions in total (40, 40, 40). Every question was checked twice before release: once by the author against the official documentation, and once by an independent reviewer who answered it blind – any disagreement was settled with a source.

What makes the explanations useful

Each answer tells you why the right option is right and why each wrong option is wrong. The wrong options are real features, commands and settings that are easy to pick by mistake – that is where most of the learning is.

How the tests are built

  • Practice Test 1: Cluster Planning, Storage, Networks and Quorum: hardware and storage requirements, iSCSI and Storage Spaces Direct, cluster networks, validation, creating the cluster and the CNO, quorum, dynamic quorum and witnesses, clustered roles, Scale-Out File Server and CSV.
  • Practice Test 2: Cluster Operations, CAU, Troubleshooting and Stretch Clusters: draining and failback, owners and failover policies, Cluster-Aware Updating, rolling upgrades, backup and restore, cluster logs and heartbeats, ForceQuorum recovery, sites, stretch clusters and Storage Replica.
  • Practice Test 3: Full Mock Exam: a mixed exam across all areas – take it last, in one sitting.

Questions use single-answer and multiple-answer formats; the number of answers to pick is always stated. Suggested time: 60 minutes per test.

Versions: Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025 Failover Clustering (quorum and witnesses incl. cloud witness, Cluster Shared Volumes, Scale-Out File Server, Storage Spaces Direct, Cluster-Aware Updating, Storage Replica, stretched/site-aware clusters), FailoverClusters and ClusterAwareUpdating PowerShell modules, as of October 2026.

Who this course is for:

  • Windows Server administrators who build or run failover clusters
  • Infrastructure engineers responsible for high availability and disaster recovery
  • Students of failover clustering who want to test what they learned
